meet our new priest in charge

From the Wardens

To our beloved Good Shepherd community,

We are excited to announce that The Rev. Madeleine Hill has accepted the vestry’s call to serve as the Church of the Good Shepherd's new Priest in Charge. Mother Maddie currently serves as Interim Associate Rector at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas, Texas, and has served parishes in Dallas and Ft. Worth for several years since earning her Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School. She also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Mother Maddie will begin her appointment with Good Shepherd on Tuesday, July 7, and her first Sunday with us will be July 12.

The vestry and advisory committee were profoundly impressed with Mother Maddie’s commitment to the Anglo-Catholic liturgical tradition as well as her strong pastoral qualities, and were unanimously enthusiastic about issuing a call to her to become our Priest in Charge. You can read more about Mother Maddie’s background and accomplishments in her letter below, and view her introductory video to the parish. However, she brings a depth of experience in shepherding a parish through change and growth that goes beyond what is captured in these brief introductions. We have no doubt that as you get to know Mother Maddie, you will be as impressed with her as we are. Please join us in praying for her as she prepares for her move to be with us here at Good Shepherd. We all look forward to welcoming her when she arrives in July.

We want to thank the vestry and the advisory committee for sharing their wisdom and time throughout the search process. We are particularly grateful to advisory committee members Jack Burnam, Kate Geiger, Heidi Kolberg, and Peter Riley for bringing a breadth of perspective to the interview process.

Let us give gratitude to God for sending Mother Maddie to us, and may God continue to bless our church and its ministry under her leadership!

Yours in Christ,

From Mother Maddie

Dear Church of the Good Shepherd,

I am overjoyed to accept the call to serve as your next Priest in Charge. As I have gotten to know Good Shepherd through conversations with your wardens, vestry, and advisory committee, I have been deeply moved by the work of the Holy Spirit in your midst. Your remarkable growth in recent years, your commitment to worshipping the Lord in the beauty of holiness, and your charism for hospitality are testaments to your faith and hope. I am honored and excited to be called to join you in continuing this good work.

A little about me: for the last six years, I have served parishes in Fort Worth and Dallas, where I have found great joy in welcoming new members, stewarding our ancient and beautiful liturgical traditions, and leading teams which serve our neighbors in need. In my life beyond the parish, I am an avid reader, novice needle pointer, and human to two happy rescue dogs.

I look forward to joining you this summer. You are already in my prayers daily. I am excited to get to know you, to hear your hopes and dreams for Good Shepherd’s next chapter, and to learn more about how God is calling us to grow together.

Blessings,

Mthr. Maddie Hill
